Bridal shower game No. 02 · Free

Guess the Dress

Draw the dress. Then the bracket decides.

Every guest sketches the wedding dress they imagine the bride picked, with a finger on their phone. The drawings go up on the big screen two at a time and the room votes. Winners move on, the bracket narrows, and one dress is crowned. Nobody needs to be able to draw. That is what makes it funny.

How to play

Three steps
  1. 1

Everyone gets a blank canvas on their phone and a couple of minutes to draw the dress.

  2. 2

Two drawings appear side by side on the screen. The room votes for the better one.

  3. 3

The winner moves to the next round. The last dress standing wins the bonus points, and the bride reveals how close anyone got.

How it plays out

From the game
  1. Ask the bride to describe the real dress in three words after the final, without showing a photo.
  2. Set a theme for the round: "the dress her mother wanted", "the dress she wore in her head at fourteen".
  3. Give the artists a prompt for round two: draw the groom's outfit, or the mother-of-the-bride hat.
  4. Have the bride pick a "most accurate" alongside the crowd's winner.
  5. Save the finalists. They make the best photo of the shower.

Every question can be rewritten to be about her with the question editor, part of Make It About Her.

Hosting tips

From real showers
  • Play it after a round or two of quick games, once everyone trusts their phones.
  • Give guests two minutes, not five. Rushed drawings are better drawings.
  • Put the bride on the front row for the voting. Her face is the show.

Questions

Answered
Do guests need to be good at drawing?

No. Everyone draws with a fingertip on a phone screen, so every entry is a little bit terrible, and that is the fun of it.

How does the voting work?

Drawings are paired up on the big screen and the room votes on each pair. Winners advance until one dress is crowned.

Can we play with a small group?

Yes. It works with four guests as well as twenty. Smaller groups just get a shorter bracket.
